New website

The website has been redesigned, to better suit the needs for the second phase of the consultation, leading up until the planned EU-Africa Summit in Lisbon in December. A few pages still need to be finalised, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused in the process. The main purpose of the website will be to share information on the process, both the official negotiations and civil society events. We will continue to publish position papers that you send, and share these systematically with the officials.

The biggest change is that the thematic pages have been replaced. They aimed to raise initial questions for discussions in the internet consultation during the first phase of the consultation, which lasted from February to May. You will find information about the discussions, the background documents, the contributions made and the reports on the results here.

We have created four new pages to structure the information we want to share:

  • ‘Official negotiations’ presents the news about the negotiation process as well as what has taken place so far.
  • ‘Public consultation’ provides information about how the consultation will continue in the second phase, and what opportunities there are to influence to official negotiations. It also includes questions and answers on the first phase.
  • ‘Civil society positions’ links to position papers and extensive comments submitted to the public consultation by organisations.
  • ‘Lisbon summit’ provides news and information about the Lisbon summit, which is planned to take place in December, and when the Joint Strategy should be approved.

You can also find more information about the website and ECDPM’s role in the consultation process.

The page is not designed as a platform for discussion, but you are welcome to submit any comments you have here. We also welcome any information about events or positions taken that you think should be posted on the website. We will continue to share information through the europafrica bulletin.

We hope that you will find the new europafrica site useful. Please feel free to send us an e-mail if you have any questions or comments: europafrica@ecdpm.org
