In the run up to the joint EU-Africa Ministerial Troika planned on 31 October, negotiations seem to speed up and the calendar of the negotiations has been slightly changed. A drafting committee/expert meeting was initially foreseen for three days this week with another session next week on 15-16 October. Instead the drafting committee / expert meeting is taking place the whole present week in Addis Ababa and next week’s session has been cancelled. The next drafting / expert meeting is thus scheduled as of 26 October in Accra to finalise the preparations of the joint Ministerial Troika due to take place on 31 October.
Both European and African experts will consult their constituency to discuss the results of the drafting committee/expert groups meetings and the preparation of Ministerial Troika before the end of October. On the European side, a Council ad hoc working group is planned for 18-19 October.
