The joint EU-Africa expert meetings refer to meetings held between experts from the EU and the AU to prepare the outline of the strategy. The EU is represented by members of the troika – that is the European Commission, the Council Secretariat, the present Presidency (Germany) and the upcoming and Portugal, plus Slovenia. The AU is represented by the AU Commission, the former, present and upcoming Presidencies. Other Member States may join this group on the African side.
