Britain represented by Amos

David Milliband, British Foreign Secretary, said in an article in the Nation (Nairobi) that Europe and Africa’s futures are intertwined, “from climate change and economic growth, to conflict and terrorism”. He said further that the EU-Africa Summit must be used to strengthen the relations and create a better future for the next generation. The British prime minister did not attend the summit, and neither did Milliband, protesting against that Zimbabwe’s president Mugabe was invited and allowed to enter Europe for the first time in several years. Britain was instead represented by Valerie Amos, the former Secretary of State for International Development. Allafrica.com interviewed her about her views on the Africa-EU partnership and challenges facing both parts.
