The « MEDIA & Development » Forum was held in Ouagadougou on 11, 12 and 13 September 2008 and falls within the framework of the partnership between the European Commission and the Commission of the African Union.
The Forum enabled discussion to take place on the importance of the media in the context of development, to reinforce advances made or, again, to identify best practices. Itwas attended by academics, professional journalists, representatives of civil society and political decision-makers.
The Forum has debated the independence of Media in Politics and Economy, how to finance independent media and how to define rules and regulations for the press.
