A joint AUC-EC retreat on the Euro 55 million Support Programme and EDF Training Course has started on the 22 January 2008, in Nazareth, Ethiopia. The African Union Commission (AUC) and the European Commission (EC) jointly organized this 5-day retreat at Adama German Hotel in Nazareth.
The purpose of the retreat is threefold:
1. To acquaint participants with European Development (EDF) procedures
2. To prepare for the second half year review meeting under the Euro 55 Million Support Programe
3. To ensure implementation of the activities of the joint AU-EU Strategy and agreements reached in the context of the AUC-EU Joint Task Force and College-to-College meetings.
Participants of the retreat include focal persons to the Euro 55M Support Program of each department of the AUC and other AU organs (PAP, ACHPR and AFCHPR) as well as those of other EC funded programs. The EC Delegation to the AU is also attending.
