Lisboa +1: what steps forward for the Africa-Europe partnership?

Coordination SUD and FIAP Jean Monnet are organising a one day conference on Lisboa +1: what steps forward for the Africa-Europe partnership? in Paris on the 5th of December 2008.

Under the slogan “Give meaning to Europe: solidarity and responsibility, Coordination SUD is organising public debates on issues relating to Europe and the South. Coordination SUD, in partnership with CONCORD, will therefore hold a seminar on the Joint Africa-Eu Strategy and discuss what has happened one year after Lisbon?

It will also have a special focus on Civil Society involvement and thus it will give voice to civil society organizations from African and Europe, African and French government officials as well as representatives of the European Union to hear their views and proposals on the future of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy.

The discussions will be structured around four panels:

  • A strategy for a renewed partnership: key issues
  • What kind of participation of civil society is expected in this renewed partnership?
  • What bilateral foreign policies in the context of the EU-Africa strategy? Example of France.
  • Strategy EU / Africa, Cotonou Agreement: Prospects for political dialogue?
  • The seminar will be held on 5 December 2008 from 9:30 to 18:30 at FIAP Jean Monnet – 30 rue Cabanis, 75014 Paris.
