As of the 1st of January 2009, the Czech Republic will take over the EU presidency seat from France.
During the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, fourteen informal meetings of ministers will be held in various regional towns and cities. Aside from Prague, which will host nine informal meetings, these summits will take place in Brno, Luhačovice, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Mariánské Lázně and Litoměřice. The Czech Republic will also be the venue for a number of other events and meetings on diverse topics. One of the most importants events related to the JAES are:
1) Informal Meeting of Ministers for Development Cooperation
Prague, 29–30 January 2009
2) The Joint Expert Group Meetings hold in February and March 2009
3) The EU-Africa Ministerial Troika in April 2009
4) the GAERC meeting with development focus on 18th and 19th of May 2009
