According to the official website of the AU-EU, the European and Pan-African Parliaments, the EU and AU Presidencies, and the two Commissions have met on the 23rd of March to discuss the involvement of the two Parliaments in the Strategy.
Discussions on the Parliaments’ role in the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership were based on a joint note submitted by the two parliaments in the beginning of this year, outlining four main proposals:
1. parliamentary participation in the Joint Expert Groups (JEGs), including in the African and European Implementation Teams (ITs);
2. possibility to share their views on the annual progress report through a parliamentary report to be presented at an informal meeting with the members of the Africa-EU Troika, prior to the Ministerial meetings;
3. participation in the Africa-EU Joint Task Force;
4. invitation to the Presidents of both Parliaments to address the Africa-EU Summit.
