AU-EU Study on The Great Green Wall for the Sahara and Sahel Initiative

As regards climate change, the results of a collaborative effort between the AU and EU to assess the scope and pre-feasibility of the the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and Sahel Initiative is now available on the official JAES website.

The Great Green Wall for the Sahara and Sahel Initiative (GGWSSI) is Priority Action 2 of the Africa – EU Partnership on Climate Change and is proposed to catalyse “sustainable development and poverty reduction in the desert margins north and south of the Sahara” to work in the zone which receives 100-400mm rainfall per year. The initiative is unique; it was initiated and is being led by Africa; also as it specifically focuses on the Saharan and Sahelian dryland ecosystems, providing a unifying foundation.
