ISS monthly Peace and Security Report puts the spotlight on the AMANI-AFRICA initiative, adopted as part of Africa-EU partnership on peace and security

In January 2010, the monthly published “Peace and Security Council Report” of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) puts the spotlight on AMANI-AFRICA – an initiative which was adopted following the EU Lisbon summit as part of the partnership on peace and security between Africa and Europe, in December 2007. The objectives of the AMANI-AFRICA (which means “peace in Africa” in Kiswahili) Exercise are to test the capacity and procedures of the African Standby Force and the various components of the continental peace and security architecture by conducting a simulated multi-dimensional peace support operation.
