African Leaders establish a planning and coordinating agency to strengthen the integration of NEPAD into the AU

NEPAD Press Release. The 14th African Union (AU) Summit decided to strengthen the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) programme through the establishment of an implementation Agency – the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) – in replacement of the NEPAD Secretariat. The NPCA, a technical body of the AU, is mandated to facilitate and coordinate the implementation of continental and regional priority programmes and projects and to mobilise resources and partners in support of their implementation.
