Workshop on “Operationalising the Africa-EU Plan of Action to combat Trafficking in Human Beings, especially Women and Children”, 24-26 March 2010

This three-day regional workshop, organized by the AU Commission in collaboration with ECOWAS, IOM and UNODC, in Abuja (Nigeria), from 24th to 26th March 2010, will be the opportunity for a consultation with Regional Economic Communities (RECs), focusing on ‘how’ to operationalise the Ouagadougou Africa-EU Plan of Action to combat Trafficking of Human Beings, especially Women and Children (i.e. the 2nd priority action of the Africa-EU Partnership on Migration, Mobility and Employment), but also for launching the African Union Commission Initiative against Trafficking in persons (AU COMMIT) campaign with RECs and looking at issues of coordination, development of policy indicators, setting of benchmarks, follow-up and monitoring mechanisms, and identification and dissemination of best practices with regard to these two processes.
