Two briefing notes on the involvement of civil society in Africa-EU Energy Partnership

The association of German development NGOs, VENRO, published in its March newsletter, two briefing notes on the “Africa-EU Energy Partnership and Civil Society”. On the EU side, Andrew Scott, policy and programmes director at Practical Action – a UK organisation representing European civil society in the Africa-EU Energy Partnership – seeks to rally more civil society involvement in the Partnership. He informs readers about the Partnership’s activities so far and presents the structure, organisation and goals of the Energy Partnership. Also, Andrew Scott explicitly points out the opportunities to engage in civil society and calls on everyone to take advantage of them.

On the African side, Michel Takam, an expert on Renewable Energies and climate change in the organisation Action pour un Développement Équitable, Intégré et Durable (ADEID) in Cameroon, has taken a closer look at the Africa-EU Energy Partnership and explains the opportunities it offers African civil society.
