“EU-Africa Research Collaboration Workshop on the Social Sciences and Humanities” – Final outcomes

Together with the INCO-Net on sub-Saharan Africa (CAAST-Net, Network for the Coordination and Advancement of Sub-Saharan Africa-EU Science & Technology Cooperation), Directorate RTD.L organised on 3-5 March 2010 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) a workshop with African and European scholars specialised in Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH). The 35 experts discussed issues relevant for sub-Saharan Africa, such as habitats/cities/migration, local heritage and sustainable development, agricultural policies/land use/adaptation to global changes, with a view to developing potential interesting topics to be included in a future work programme under the 7th European Research Framework Programme.

The 3-day workshop was a true success and provided a wealth of ideas that should inspire the work programme. Special thanks are due to the local Ethiopian organisers and, in particular, Eloi Ficquet, Director of the French Centre for Ethiopian Studies in Addis Ababa. Access the programme of the workshop, the list of participants and the final outcomes of the workshop here.
