Afrique Avenir The European Union (EU) has appointed, David MacRae, as its new Permanent Representative to the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
In a release issued in Abuja on Tuesday by EU Spokesman Kelechi Onyemaobi, the new ambassador is also the head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria.
MacRae replaces Robert van der Meulen, the erstwhile head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria who completed his tenure in Abuja two years ago.
MacRae has presented his letters of credence to Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Thursday.
He has worked at the European Commission headquarters on cooperation programmes in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, and as an economic adviser to the EU Delegation in Zambia from 1985 to 1988.
