Africa and Europe in Partnership In the framework of the thematic partnership “migration, mobility and employment”, and in line with the commitments taken in the two Action Plans, the African Union programme Mwalimu Nyerere will be henceforth supported by the European Union via the Intra-ACP University Mobility Programme. The Mwalimu Nyerere programme intends to grant scholarships to facilitate exchanges between African universities. This programm is one of the numerous concrete actions undertaken under the 7th thematic partnership of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy.

The first Call for proposals (reference EACEA 35/10) for the “Intra-ACP academic mobility scheme” has been launched. It appeared in the Official Journal C 385 of 31.12.2010, and has been published on the intra-ACP website.

The “Intra-ACP Academic Mobility scheme” promotes cooperation between higher education institutions (HEIs) and supports mobility in Africa and in the the Caribbean and Pacific regions. The funds allocated to this programme are differentiated into two parts:

  • A similar scheme for the Caribbean and the Pacific regions.

Cooperation between HEIs and mobility of students (at masters and doctoral level) and staff will take place within:

  • Lot 1 – Africa;
  • Lot 2 – the Caribbean and the Pacific

This Call for proposals aims to support 3 projects under Lot 1 (EU budget available: € 7 million) and 1 project under Lot 2 (EU budget available: € 2 million), and it is available at this address.

The deadline for submission of applications is 6 May 2011.
