AU The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 296th meeting held on 17 October 2011, considered the Report of the mission of the African Union Delegation to the China‐AU Workshop on Issues of Peace and Security, held from 13 to 18 September 2011, in Beijing, The People’s Republic of China.
Council welcomed the outcome of this mission which provided an opportunity for China and the African Union to identify ways to strengthen their cooperation in specific areas of peace and security. In this regard, Council expressed its appreciation to the Chinese authorities for their willingness to support the efforts of the AU to promote peace, security and stability in Africa, within the broader framework of close cooperation and partnership between Africa Union and China.
Council also expressed its appreciation to the Ambassador of Chad, Chérif Mahamat Zene, Chairperson of Council for the month of September 2011, who led the mission, and other members of the Delegation of the AU for their contribution to strengthening partnership between China and African Union in the field of peace and security.
Council requested the Commission to follow up on the conclusions of the mission and to report regularly on the status of their implementation.
