WECO A high-level policy dialogue meeting, held in Johannesburg last month, discussed how the entry of emerging powers in Africa is affecting the continent’s relations with Europe and other traditional donors. The meeting report is now available. The event, the second in a series of meetings organized by SAIIA, KAS and ECDPM, debated how “old” and “new” actors can work together effectively to support African-owned development efforts. The role of natural resource management, and regional integration and infrastructure were also discussed. The participants viewed having more players for promoting development in Africa as an opportunity, but saw local ownership as well as coordination of all actors as prerequisites for success.
