New discovery in malaria treatment in the run up to World Malaria Day

EU EU-funded researchers have discovered that drugs originally designed to inhibit the growth of cancer cells can also kill the parasite that causes malaria. They believe this discovery could open up a new strategy for combating this disease. Nigeria: Assembly mobilises support for MDGs

The Nigerian Tribune Online The House of Representatives is billed to hold a public hearing on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) this week, as part of efforts aimed at reviewing its progress. Idowu Samuel, examines the unaddressed issues of MDGs by the legislature. At the break of the present millennium in 2000, one major fear that reverberated in the considerations of world leaders was the imminence of a heavy pang of poverty likely to lead the world to doom sooner than expected.
